It wasn't a romp and it wasn’t a rout. But the 67-52 American win was revenge, sweet revenge, for Russia's upset of the U.S. two years ago in the semis of the Women’s World Championships in Brazil. And it was good enough to send the Americans on to the gold-medal round Saturday, where they will face Australia, the winner of tonight’s other semi-final, in a rematch of the Athens Olympics final.
