There is a limited schedule of televised games over the next ten days, but there are some intriguing matchups. Four games match two ranked teams, including two games with Rutgers and two games involving coaches no longer with Duke.

Coming off its last-second loss to Stanford, Rutgers continues its murderous first month schedule with games against #12 George Washington this Sunday and #4 LSU the following Sunday. Rutgers has three more games against top 15 teams the next two weeks, facing Maryland, Duke and California, which means six of the Scarlet Knights’ first nine games are against top 15 competition. And the schedule doesn’t get much easier as the season moves forward. Rutgers also takes on Tennessee later in the year, so the Scarlet Knights have seven nonconference games with top 15 teams. Only Stanford and Tennessee have as many as five comparable games.

Conversely, among the top 15 teams Georgia has not scheduled any such nonconference games and has only one ranked team (Florida State) before SEC play. Number 22 Louisville does not play a ranked team in nonconference play, while Ohio State (vs. Maryland) and West Virginia (vs. Tennessee) have only one game.

Duke fans will be able to watch their former coach, Gail Goestenkors, lead #22 Texas into Knoxville to take on #1 Tennessee this Sunday. The following Sunday they can see what might have been as former assistant and once likely successor Joanne Boyle leads #15 California against #13 Baylor. Cal will be without All-American candidate Devanei Hampton, but in her absence Ashley Walker was able to post 31 points and 23 rebounds in the Golden Bears’ opener.

All times Eastern.
